The Value of Persistence

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.”  Calvin Coolidge

Looking for a job is a daunting challenge.  If you are working and tired at the end of a long day, the last thing that you want to do is to add another task on your plate.  If you are not employed, it can feel like you are scaling a mountain and you may find yourself losing hope that you will secure another position.  It is at this point that you need to remind yourself that patience and persistence pays off.  In my years of experience, I have seen more success from the people that keep their eye on the target.  They are not phased by rejection letters or final interviews that didn’t work out.  As someone happily placed in a great organizations said, “these rejections were just hurdles that I had to jump over to get here.”  He considered them badges of honor that brought him to where he is today.  So, when you are in the trenches of a job search, you have to remember that you can’t give up.  You can’t lose your sense of optimism or let all of the obstacles get you down.
