Responsible for the overall efficacy of the quality systems to include ISO 9000,
AS9100 and ISO 13485. Reviews contracts, quotes and customer drawings to identify
customer specifications; develops inspection plans and processes to meet customer
specifications and production schedules; monitors ongoing processes and programs for
quality cost savings and/or improvements; trains and familiarizes Inspectors and Machine
Operators in ISO, GD&T, SPC and the use of specialty inspection gages, tools and
techniques. Supervises, trains and evaluates six direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the Inspection Department, establishes day-to-day work priorities and
oversees inspection processes and procedures. - Manages, maintains and updates as necessary all quality system documentation
and/or certifications to include ISO 9001, AS9100 and ISO 13485 - Responsible for the management and maintenance of both hard-copy and electronic
document control files - Reviews contracts, quotes, customer drawings and any special instructions to identify
customer specifications and critical dimensions and tolerances - Effectively interacts with the Engineering Cell, Purchasing/Materials, Customer
Service & Sales and Manufacturing to ensure timely, coordinated and supporting
actions - Develops inspection plans and procedures to meet customer specifications,
manufacturing procedures and production schedules - Monitors ongoing manufacturing processes and programs for cost savings and/or
quality related improvements. - Monitors quality statistics and overall ratings with customers, vendors and outside
suppliers - Manages and chairs the Material Review Board (MRB)
- Responsible for the training and familiarization of all Inspectors and Machine
Operators in ISO, GD&T, SPC and the use of specialty inspection tools, gages and
techniques - Identifies quality-related training shortfalls, gaps and /or needs
- Initiates and/or participates in lean programs, SPC studies and trending analysis to
improve manufacturing and inspection processes
- Collects, analyzes and evaluates data to determine the cost of quality and to eliminate
or reduce scrap, rework and other non-conformance variables - Evaluates, recommends and initiates actions for the purchase of inspection and test
related equipment - Serves as the Company’s representative for the ISO quality management system and
primary representative for all internal and external audits, evaluations and customer
communications related to quality - Reviews job packets for all necessary customer and operation prints, inspection
documentation and any special instruction - Manages the Gage Calibration Program
- Supervises, trains and evaluates six direct reports
Requirements
- Education/ Experience. BSME or BS ind Tech or an equivalent of work experience in a
quality engineering or quality management role. Ability to read and interpret blue
prints and mechanical drawings to include knowledge of GD&T. Knowledge and
familiarity with gage calibration, document control, mechanical measuring and test
equipment and CNC /CMM tool technology. Proficiency with the use of the MS Office
