Testing Supervisor

Work as a member of a cross functional team who provides technical guidance, direction, written instruction and training as related to testing of electrical and fiber optic cable and penetrator assemblies. • Test Engineering support of major Wire Harness, Fiber Optic, and RF Cable Assembly projects. • Provide leadership and technical Testing support to production, manufacturing, and quality engineering. • Develop Manufacturing Test process and procedures. • Executes the procurement and installation of materials, tools, fixtures and equipment and all other duties as assigned. • Works closely with production and engineering by communicating and facilitating recommendations and design changes as applicable. • Assists production flow by facilitating 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and process flow diagrams as required. Supervisory Responsibilities • Directly supervises 5 to 7 employees in the Test Department. • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. • Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. • Records Test production by completing weekly shift report. • Review and approval of employee timesheets. • ‘Hands on’ and on the production floor supporting the test operation. Technical working knowledge of test equipment is required. • Designs fixtures and tooling evaluates processes for increased throughput and troubleshoots issues on products and processes. • Conducts Root Cause Analysis following an 8D or DMAIC process; leads team members in the implementation of corrective and preventative actions as required. • Develops work cell layouts and critical processes • Generate assembly and inspection instructions for manufacturing processes. • Develop processes and identify equipment needed to perform the work. • Achieve cost improvement goals by utilizing Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Education And Experience • BS in Engineering (Electrical, Manufacturing) • several yrs experience in a production and/or assembly environment working with electro or optical assemblies test equipment • Skilled in RF testing, preferably in performing Mil-Standard testing for suppliers of military systems, sub-systems, and components • Knowledge of RF test equipment such as network analyzers, Signal Generators and Oscilloscopes • Must have knowledge and experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma. • Documented experience driving process improvements in a manufacturing environment. • Manufacturing Test process and procedure development experience Physical Demands •
