At any given time, working with a team, this individual may be juggling new product development projects, maintaining and enhancing existing product lines, working cost reduction efforts, and supporting technical field issues. It is essential for this individual to quickly identify what work is required, develop effective work plans, and deliver high quality results, expeditiously. This role requires an individual to find creative ways to solve problems and work cross functionally across all departments within the Company.

Work inter-departmentally to develop innovative, high quality new products that leverage Company’s strengths

Life cycle manage products through maintenance, enhancement, and value engineering.

Lead Engineering Change (EC) functions. Develop and maintain design documentation, drawings, BOM’s, test data, technical manuals, and all other related technical product documentation.

Lead or support product and labor cost reduction initiatives in support of annual corporate cost reduction goals.

Provide technical field support related to use, performance, and quality of Company products. Work closely with Quality department to develop Cause and Corrective Action plans for product related quality issues.

Develop and enhance work systems and processes within the Product Engineering department to reduce lead-times on projects and improve quality of results.

Primary point of technical product support to internal and external customers.

Ideal candidate will have these qualifications/skills:

BS in engineering. Advanced degree in engineering or management a plus.

Several years of experience in an engineering position

Demonstrated innovation and creativity in developing and implementing new product designs and enhancements to existing products.

Superior ability to achieve anticipated results in a fast-paced environment. Ability to plan, prioritize, make commitments, and manage several concurrent projects through to completion in a timely fashion. Ability to quickly sort through details and properly identify the level of detail and effort required.

Proven ability to lead continuous cost reduction projects and achieve targeted goals.

Experienced in 3D Modeling using AutoCAD Inventor software (or similar).

Adept in structural and stress analysis utilizing hand calculations, spreadsheet tools, and / or commercial FEA software.

Basic electrical design knowledge with motors and control systems.

Design experience utilizing some or more of the following manufacturing processes: sheet steel stamping and forming, steel / aluminum / iron castings and machining, roll-forming, welding, plastic injection / blow / thermoform molding, plastic extrusions, wood processing, foam and fabric processing.

Experienced in ERP, PDM, and PLM systems.

Understanding and experience with quick turn-around prototyping and testing. Ability to develop test plans, conduct testing, write test reports, analyze results, and develop recommendations that are supported by data.

Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to plan, set priorities, and achieve results

Superior communication, goal setting, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to reach out and work cross functionally within the Engineering department and across the entire organization.

Desire for professional growth.

Willingness for occasional, short duration travel.
