Ops Manager – Back Office Construction

Opportunity to work for family owned contractor in the business for over 70 years with stellar reputation serving Commercial, Corporate, Healthcare and Institutional market segments.  Position will be responsible for managing and scheduling companies labor force on all active projects while also offering direct supervision to companies warehouse management; ensuring that proper management and records of inventory, tool repair and resources are maintained. The operations manager will be in direct contact with other managers, working with them to improve workflow and resource allocation across all jobsites.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedule project crews and allocate manpower based on project needs and available labor resources
  • Regular communication with project management, field supervision, and ownership
  • Supervision of warehouse management – analyzing consumable inventory, tool repair costs, and equipment availability as reported by the warehouse manager
  • Manage scheduling of equipment and vehicle usage and maintenance
  • Offer reporting and other information summarizing company workflow performance, operating efficiency, and resource usage to help improve decision-making and plan for future needs
  • Oversee and provide guidance on safety program
  • Assist with field hiring and onboarding
  • Ensure field time is tracked accurately and timely
  • Manage departmental budget
  • Contribute to process improvements and improve efficiency
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and communicate effectively

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills
  • Excellent ability to communicate and collaborate efficiently across project teams
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and direct work activities
  • Project management, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and MS Project
  • Familiarity with Procore and Smartsheet
  • Must have a drivers’ license
