Coating Manager

Our client is a successful specialty paper manufacturer located in a beautiful area of NH.

Role : The individual will be responsible for

• the safe operation of the coater equipment and its employees.
• Supervise and schedule the coater operation.
• Manage the coating crews and their performance expectations to deliver value to the organization. Coordinate coating material usage for paper grades and coating formulations.
• Develop and maintain training schedules to enhance the capability of the coating group.
• Lead and execute on cost reduction and process improvement projects, to ensure on time performance and benchmark against key metrics.

Day in the life of:

• Check orders, prior to manufacture, to ensure staging of correct materials and their availability to ensure optimum performance with minimum process disruptions and downtime.
• Coordinate with scheduling and sales orders to select types and quantities to correctly fulfill orders Assist Tour Boss to manage coater overtime as needed.
• Hands on involvement in Lean, STRIVE and AAR activities-live continuous improvement.
• Assist Technical and Lab on sensitive grades as needed.
• Manage inventory of raw materials and flag for procurement or disposal.
• Lead/assist product development trials on the coater.
• Be the SME to assist in coater operational issues to ensure on time performance for the department. Develop audit cadence to ensure that performance expectations are met and exceeded with adherence to SOP’s and compliance standards.

Education & Experience:

• B.S degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or allied fields.
• Several years of experience in coatings, managing coating applications, managing crews and coater operations.
