|Provide technical support to manufacturing regarding both equipment and processes.
Identify and assist in the implementation of process improvements that lower costs and improve quality.
Manage capital equipment projects from concept to full production release. This will include equipment justification, specifying and sourcing, contract review, scheduling and coordination, installation and testing, training and documentation.
Manage major process improvement projects from concept to full production release. This will include process concept development and justification, identifying new process technologies, defining new plant layouts and station functions, scheduling and coordination with manufacturing, process implementation and validation, training and documentation.
Design, build and install custom equipment as necessary to meet manufacturing requirements.
Participate in design reviews of new products to ensure compatibility with current manufacturing capabilities or to identify the need for new manufacturing capabilities.
Create and/or review routings for new production items.
Assist in the evaluation of make vs buy decisions for new products.
Coordinate activities of vendors that provide technical maintenance and repair services on tools, dies and equipment.
Represent Manufacturing Engineering on cross functional teams within the organization.
Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Maintain organized project files for efficient retrieval of information.
Be an active and supportive member of the Manufacturing Engineering team and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Learn the factors to be considered and the best practices for the safe and efficient operation of numerous metal forming processes and equipment.
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with several years in a manufacturing environment.
Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with a variety of metal forming processes. (I.E. – Stamping, press brake, shearing, forming, roll forming etc.) Must have significant knowledge of welding practice and principles. Experience with robotic welding is a major plus. Working knowledge of tools and dies used in stamping presses.
